What sets us apart?
With each one of our students' ambitions at heart we have developed an approach to support them reach their academic goals. Why? We believe that each child has an opportunity to be the best they can be. We are not here to change their future, but to assist them in reaching their aspirations. Here is how we did it:

-
The Skills Assessment - designed to pinpoint the student's unique areas for development. The results from this assessment allow us to build a comprehensive and individualized learning program for your child.
-
Our Learning Environment- The learning centre ambiance is educational, yet relaxing. We want your child to feel like home away from home.
-
Programs Library- Over the past three years, we have acquired what we believe to be the best educational materials available. Furthermore, our teachers have developed in house thousands of pages of additional materials, covering an unparalleled educational spectrum from early childhood motor skills to calculus.
-
Progress Monitoring -Our classes are small, allowing your child continuous access to the teacher's wealth of knowledge. Your child will continuously be engaged in the learning process. No more hiding in the back of the classroom, or passing notes to others! In this fashion, we are able to achieve quick results in a relatively short period of time. Furthermore, the small teacher-student ratio allows us to continuously monitor your child's progress and adjust his learning programs accordingly.
-
Our Teachers - We make every effort possible to hire the best qualified teachers in the industry, only because your child deserves the best! Our teachers share a passion for teaching and take tremendous pride in their students achievements. Each one of our teachers undergoes significant training and testing before they become Cayman Learning Centre Tutors.
-
Parent Feedback - On a regular basis, you will meet the Centre Education Director, who will discuss with you your child's progress. This gives you the opportunity to see your child's progress with your own eyes, ask questions and see how you can best do your part at home.
The Skills Assessment
In order to determine the best approach in helping you child succeed, we must ask ourselves three important questions:
-
What skills has your child mastered?
-
Which skills require further attention?
-
Where is he/she in comparison to his or her peer group?
This is exactly where the Skills Assessment fits in. It is simply the number one tool in determining how to begin helping your child!
Each one of our students undergoes the Skills Assessment on his or her first class. The Skills Assessment is designed to test the child's inventory of skills in core subject areas. It gives us a comprehensive picture of your child's abilities and allows us to determining how many areas require attention, and which areas require immediate attention.
Through the Skills Assessment we also determine how your child is performing in comparison to his peer group. This allows us to make an estimate of how often your child should be receiving focused tutoring support.
Upon the completion of the Skills Assessment and after reviewing other relevant materials such as report cards, teacher comments etc., we then develop a learning program designed to help your child develop those skills which require attention.
What if my child is not being challenged in school?
In certain cases, your child may be ahead of his or her peer group and therefore under challenged in school. There may be no apparent skill gaps for his or her development level. Well, in these cases your child's learning program would be designed to go beyond what he or she is taught in the classroom. The Skills Assessment would determine the next skill to be mastered in a child's development. The learning program is developed such that your child is continuously challenged by introducing new skills as other skills are mastered.
Learning environment makes a difference!
We believe that the learning environment has a significant impact on your child's motivation and confidence to learn.
At Cayman Learning Centre, we have built an environment conducive to learning. Our goal was to make our students feel at home away from home. The learning setting is similar to what you would see in a living room (without the TV! or that Xbox, of course).
The idea is that children relax, feel comfortable and enjoy their learning experience. When children enjoy learning, the sky is the limit! All of the sudden, they become more confident, pursue other learning opportunities at school or at home and stop at nothing to show everyone what they know. In school, they will choose to sit in the front of the classroom rather than the back, they raise their hands more often to seek clarification or pose an answer to his or her teacher's questions. In the end, they have learned how to learn and appreciate the learning process. When that happens, they are on the road of being the best they can be.
Educational Materials that make a difference!
The Cayman Learning Centre uses the best learning materials available on the market. Our collection of educational material is written by top educators and has been proven to achieve results. Furthermore, our teachers have created thousands of pages of additional material to support our students' learning development.
We continuously monitor the curriculums used in schools and make continuous adjustments to ensure that we have the adequate depth and breadth of material for our students. The breadth of our material spans from motor skill development to complex calculus and thesis writing. Hundreds of pages of material on each learning skill defines the depth coverage.
In a nutshell, we believe that we have the largest collection of educational materials available in Cayman. If it is taught in schools, we have it!
Monitoring student progress every step of the way.
Our Learning Programs are taught in a small student-teacher ratio. For our Building Blocks Program the maximum enrollment is 6:1 while the Core Learning Program 3:1. This allows our students to make faster gains in one hour at the Centre than they would in an hour in their school classroom. They are engaged at all times and focused on their current learning skill. Once a skill is mastered, a new skill is introduced. This keeps our students challenged and engaged at all times. Unlike a classroom, a student must prove that the skill is mastered before a new one is introduced. In a nut shell - we move through material at the speed of your child's abilities! We never leave them behind!
How do we know when is time to move on? We have developed a simple test to determine when a student is ready to move on. When a child performs the skill in question with 80% accuracy or greater without teacher assistance, we move them on to new skill set. We continuously monitor them and change the programming as it is required.
We believe a child in not challenged when he or she practices a task they already know, and similarly their confidence is reduced if he or she is working on material which is too difficult for their skill level. The monitoring process is critical to each student's learning progress. It ensures that our students build their motivation and confidence for academic success and beyond.
Our Tutors share a Passion for Teaching.

Our tutors are qualified teachers approved by the Cayman Islands Education Board. Throughout their careers they have spent numerous years teaching in classrooms. Everyday, they bring with them a wealth of knowledge which in turn they share with their students. Our teachers believe in the learning process and share the Cayman Learning Centre vision. They believe in our approach and deliver it with the highest level of professionalism. They take pride in our students accomplishments and help them achieve their academic goals one step at a time.
Sharing feedback on your child's performance.

Your child's progress is the result of a joint effort. Parents, guardians, school teachers and Cayman Learning Centre have one goal in common: to ensure your child succeeds academically. In order for each one of us to be successful in reaching this goal, timely feedback is essential.
At Cayman Learning Centre, we meet with you regularly (every 10 learning sessions). During these meetings, we review your child's progress to date and his or her current learning program, we develop learning strategies, discuss future skill development and share accomplishments.
These regular meetings are an important component similar to the parent-teacher meetings at school. It gives us the opportunity to focus our efforts. Remember, your child may be attending learning sessions at the Cayman Learning Centre a number of times per week. It is essential that the skills learned here are practiced and further developed at home. The learning sessions are not a substitute for parental academic support. Your child requires daily attention, motivation and encouragement. These meetings facilitate and join our efforts in seeing your child succeed. From our experience, we noted that the child's progress was accelerated when parents/guardians attended the feedback sessions.
We encourage you to share with us any information you think we may find useful in effectively supporting your child, including test marks, report cards, school teacher feedback etc. You may send us such information at any time, whether through your child, by email, phone etc. The more informed we all are, the better we can support your child reach his academic goals.
